Jewish groups, such as Jews for Peace, have organized a number of protests against the genocidal policies of the Israeli Government towards the people and children of Palestine over the last few days.  Today, Jews for Peace threw a large rally outside the Israeli Consulate on Wilshire Blvd in Los Angeles in which the supporters of the people of Gaza outnumbered Israeli Government sympathizers by a sizable margin.  Descendants of victims of Hitler's death camps stood with Palestinians in opposition to the Israeli Government's attempt at ethnic cleansing.  While some Jews descended from death camp victims were interviewed by some stations, these interviews were not aired.  Large media organizations, such as ABC and NBC, planned to interview Jews protesting the massacre of Gaza but received orders from above.  It was believed that these orders involved an attempt to pretend that Jews support the actions of Israel.  Jews no more support the actions of Israel than Americans supported the last eight years of the Bush Administration.  It is actually anti-Semitic to equate Jews with the Israeli Government as so many oppose the actions of that government.

Today was especially tragic for human rights activists who learned that the Israeli Government had bombed a school and killed over three dozen children.  The Israeli Government has prevented children injured in the attacks from received medical treatment.  They have done so through a blockade of medical supplies humanitarian agencies have attempted to bring to Gaza.  Israelis even rammed and fired upon a ship of medical supplies on which a former Congresswoman was traveling.  After attempting to ram the ship multiple times in international waters, the Israelis fired on the ship.  The former Congresswoman's life was saved when it was discovered that the humanitarian ship, the Dignity, had a live video feed and that the seeming assassination attempt was captured on that video.

Today, the Senate refused to seat Senator Roland Burris.  Under the U.S. Constitution, Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich is entitled to appoint a replacement for Barack Obama, pending a special election in two years.  Blagojevich appointed Burris.   However, though Burris is a Democrat, Harry Reid decided to oppose the appointment.  Candidates preferred by Reid and Obama are white.  Burris is the lone black Senator.    Even liberals who wanted Jesse Jackson, Jr., or Danny Davis for Senator believe the Democrats should follow the Constitution and seat Burris.

Harry Reid backed Bush's Florida electors in 2001 and voted for Bush's Ohio electors in 2005, the war in Iraq and the Patriot Act. Reid opposes the removal and prosecution of Bush and Cheney for crimes against humanity.  At the same time, Reid has personally convicted an unindicted Rod Blagojevich.  A fundamental principle of the American justice system, with which Reid is unfamiliar, is the concept of innocent until proven guilty.  Reid seems to have given a "Get Out of Jail Free Card" to the Republicans while demanding all Democrats be removed from office whenever the media alleges the Democrats have engaged in wrongdoing.  Some Democrats are talking about switching to Republican so Reid will back them for Chairman of the Democratic National Committee.
