In 1972, Richard Nixon's campaign was caught in dirty tricks in its
effort to rig the election of 1972. In July, 2007, John Edwards
and Hillary Clinton were caught planning dirty tricks to rig the
election of 2007. In Nixon's case, it was a question of whether
people would believe the information accumulated by Woodward and
Bernstein. In the case of John Edwards and Hillary Clinton, the
cameras were rolling and their microphones were on.

From the video, it is clear that Clinton and Edwards want to cut other
candidates out of the debate and limit discussion.
Peace activists see this as an attempt to silence those who have
opposed the war from the beginning and who oppose a potential war with
Iran. Edwards was the architect of the war resolution and the
leader who was most effective in selling the war to Congress.
Edwards continued to speak in support of war up to and beyond the start
of the war. After it became unpopular, he stated he was
tricked. Clinton voted for Edwards's war resolution.
Both have spoken in support of a possible strike on Iran and both have
expressed a willingness to use nukes on Iran.
Health care activists see the Clinton-Edwards scheme as an attempt to
cut universal, single-payer, not-for-profit health care out of the
debate. Both candidates favor plans that include a bigger profit
for insurance companies and more control by managed care personnel over
what is covered and what is excluded.
Civil liberty activists see the Clinton-Edwards illicit liaison
as an attempt to take USA-PATRIOT out of the debate. Both
strongly supported the USA-PATRIOT Act and neither plans to eliminate
it.
Impeachment supporters believe that the video-tapped rigging plan
involves silencing the overwhelming majority of Americans who favor
impeachment. Both Clinton and Edwards strongly oppose
impeachment.
Debate-watchers feel the accurate coverage of topics requires the
inclusion of all the candidates, especially the inclusion of
Congressman, Oversight and Government Reform Committee - Domestic
Subcommittee Chairman, and Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich, one
of the candidates Clinton and Edwards are suspected of conspiring to
exclude in their election-rigging plan. Kucinich led the fight
against the war in Iraq from the start. He is leading the fight
to stop a war with Iran. He is the only candidates who supports
universal, not-for-profit, single-payer health care. Kucinich led the
opposition in the House to the PATRIOT Act and its renewal.
Kucinich has filed Articles of Impeachment against Dick Cheney,
something seen as a first step on the path to impeaching
Bush.
Kucinich supporters believe the video must have been a personal blow as
well. Kucinich had considered Edwards a good
friend. When reports came in that John Edwards was working
behind the scenes to undermine the peace and health care movements and
to use falsehoods to lure Kucinich supporters into Edwards's camp,
Kucinich avoided questioning Edwards or his campaign on the
subject. Their friendship has gone back years and Kucinich was
always kind in action and deed towards Edwards. For Kucinich, the
video-taped revelation about Edwards' plan to backstab Kucinich and
other candidates undoubtedly caused considerable personal pain.
This is not the first rigging scheme where Edwards has been
caught. In MoveOn's Town Hall DVD on the environment, the volume
was up and easy to hear for Edwards (who went first), and lowest and
hard to hear for Kucinich, Gravel and Biden. It was back up for
Hillary. Despite the obvious attempt to rig the debate, Dennis
held his own, coming in second. MoveOn plans to use the results
of their rigged Town Hall to promote the candidate for whom they rigged
the Town Hall, John Edwards. Democrats are crying foul and
wondering what separates certain Democratic candidates from Karl
Rove. A number of Democratic leaders are predicting defeat in the
2008 Presidential election if the Democrats fail to nominate an
honest and courageous candidate who listens to the people.
At the end of the video is a comment about how Barack Obama was caught
referring to notes during the debate. Unfamiliarity with the
subjects has been a problem for Obama.
In a school competition, kids are eliminated when they cheat.
With Obama, Clinton and Edwards acting as if they can't win
legitimately, perhaps they should be disqualified.
