"We are losing our nation to a war based on lies, to destruction
of our
civil liberties and to massive debt. I tried to get these themes
into the debates. But I was locked out of six debates. In
each and every early primary state, in Iowa, in New Hampshire,
Nevada, South Carolina and California, the American people were denied
an opportunity to know that there is a way our of Iraq, there are plans
to restore our economy, there is a practical health care plan which
means the end of premiums, co-pays and deductibles. But there was
no way to get the message out. Workers here know about
lockouts. They stop you from being heard."
With these words and a promise that he will win the people's battle for
jobs, health care, peace and democracy, Dennis Kucinich officially
dropped out of the Democratic race for President. His name
remains on the primary ballots. Votes for Kucinich in the primaries
will result in delegates for Kucinich and the causes he supported
and are expected to send a message to corporate America. Liberal
Democratic caucus-goers are vowing to caucus only for Kucinich.
Across America, Democrats angry at corporate candidates are vowing that
the only Democrat they will support for President is Congressman Dennis
J. Kucinich. In the words of one new voter, "Voting for any of
the corporate trio, Edwards, Clinton or Obama, is throwing away your
vote."
The corporate media, with the support of the Democratic Party power
structure, has built up John Edwards as the Media Golden Boy and
Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama as Superstars. Edwards was
the one who came up with the idea for excluding anti-war voices from
the debates and the media did as Edwards wished. Edwards, clearly
the media favorite, has received no negative publicity at this point
in the campaign. For the time being, the media appears to be
holding back attacks on Edwards regrading possible misuse of
poverty funds and a soon-to-be-born illegitimate child. Obama has
received some criticism while Clinton receives mostly negative
publicity. What these three media favorites all have in common is
that the media has kept the public aware of their
existence. The media has let voters know these candidates
are in the race for President. Through exclusion, the media has
pretended all other candidates dropped out of the race long ago.
In addition to debate exclusions, voters have observed serious
irregularities with Kucinich's vote counts and what appears to be
massive fraud to undercount his vote. In New Hampshire,
Kucinich's vote count went down as if the percentage had been
predetermined and the votes had to be subtracted to bring him down to
the required percentage.. Later, during the recount, it was
discovered that the chain of votes was broken and the ballots
were subjected to the likelihood of tampering. Even worse,
machines which have been shown to be completely untrustworthy were used
to tabulate the votes.
On January 22, 2008, the Patrick Henry Democratic Club of America,
widely considered the most progressive Democratic club in America,
unanimously called for a criminal investigation into the debate
exclusions. Their resolution calls for California Attorney
General Jerry Brown, California Secretary of State Debra Bowen, the US
Department of Justice, the Federal Elections Commission and the Federal
Communications Commission to conduct criminal
investigations of all persons and organizations connected to the
debates. It is the position of the Democratic
members of that club that the exclusion of candidates from the debates
constitutes election fraud and election tampering.
While Democratic liberals plan to vote for Kucinich in their primaries,
the main beneficiaries of their general election votes are expected to
be Congressman Ron Paul and Former Congresswoman Cynthia
McKinney. McKinney filed Articles of Impeachment against George
W. Bush, Dick Cheney and Condoleezza Rice in 2006. Most of the
liberal Democrats are expected to cross over to vote for McKinney in
the general election. It was pointed up that, until Abraham
Lincoln won, the Republicans were a third party. One voter
pointed out that those deciding between a black and a woman could have
both with Cynthia McKinney. There is still a hope that Kucinich
will re-enter the race as an independent or that he will be drafted
from the floor of the national convention.
Congressman Kucinich has an impressive Congressional record and is
widely considered to be the conscience or the soul of the
Congress. He has sponsored or co-sponsored bills to bring about
universal, single-payer health care, end the war in Iraq, abolish
nuclear weapons, abolish the death penalty, impeach Dick Cheney and
much more. On January 28, 2008, he plans to introduce Articles of
Impeachment against George W. Bush.
Dennis Kucinich is considered the youth rights candidate as he has
supported the youth on each and every critical issue from lowering the
voting age to opposing a ban on internet use. Youth support
is expected to go to Cynthia McKinney in the general election as
she and Kucinich are the only two Presidential candidates who have
expressed support for lowering the voting age. Mike Gravel,
like Kucinich, has expressed support for lowering the drinking age but
hasn't said where he stands on the voting age.
Many liberal Democrats have already written their version of the eulogy
for the Democratic Party. To more and more Democrats, the
prospect for a Democratic victory in November looks pretty dim.
