Dennis J. Kucinich - the Most Electable Presidential Candidate of 2008
by Natasha H., age 15

On December 12, 2000, American voters saw the theft of their democracy and lost faith in America.  On December 12, 2006, Americans found a reason to believe their voices would be heard, again.  That day, Dennis Kucinich announced he was running for President in the 2008 election.

Americans have become used to stolen elections: 2000, 2004 and now 2006. American voters gave the Democrats a mandate on November 7, 2006  They voted to end the war and to hold Bush accountable for his actions.  Following the 2006 election came the same kind of shock that followed the theft of 2000.  Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic House leader, expected to carry out the voter's mandate, announced that she would do no such thing.  Democratic lawmakers rallied around a plan to do the opposite of the voter mandate, turning the voters' victory into another stolen election.

November 7, 2006 was a voter revolution.  Instead of listening to the media or caring about who the corporations and money interests were supporting, voters changed the face of Congress in the belief that it would bring about the mandate for which they had voted.  Now, voters are angry.  They were betrayed and lied to by the Democrats and they are not willing to let it happen again.  On November 4, 2008, another voter revolt is planned, this one to put into office someone who has proven trustworthy in opposing Bush, opposing war and in consistently standing up against the attacks of freedom.  The only candidate who fits that description is Dennis Kucinich, the voters' candidate, the only candidate they will elect President in 2008.

As soon as Kucinich announced hs candidacy, peace and progressive groups rallied behind him.  The Patrick Henry Democratic Club of America (an organization with a national membership) endorsed him the same day he announced.  Later that week, the Orange County Chapter (the most politically active chapter) of the National Youth Rights Association endorsed Kucinich. Since then a variety of peace and progressive websites have called for support of Kucinich for President.

Even on conservative Democratic websites, like the Democraticunderground.com (DU), Dennis won a Presidential poll after a sizable number of Kucinich supporters had been banned from DU.  No matter how hard they tried to help the conservatives, there was no keeping down Kucinich.

In Orange County, a Democratic Party poll listed all the Democratic and potential Democratic candidates except for Kucinich.  An emailing campaign forced the  Orange County Democratic Party's Executive Director to add Kucinich's name to the poll close to a month and a half after it had been running.  Although the other candidates had about a month an a half headstart, Dennis skyrocketed to a runaway lead the day his name was added to the poll.  Dennis continues to maintain a landslide lead over the other candidates as this article is being written.  Orange County, CA, is known for its conservative Democrats.  Imagine the surprise of the conservatives in OC to find out that Edwards, Vilsack, Richardson, Bayh, Biden, Clinton, Obama, and others were no match for the popularity of Kucinich within their own county.  A screen capture is at creativeyouth.net/docpoll.html

Mass media polls are avoiding including his name as they fear he'll similarly skyrocket to victory in their polls, also.   But the voters proved on November 7, 2006 that they didn't care about the mass media slant.

Electable?  Dennis is the most honest man in Congress and has a voting record that shows he listens to the people and not to corporate interests.  The people are counting on the voter rebellion to make him President as the corporations will try to put in their man.

Corporate personhood hasn't been extended to corporate voting.  The people won't elect a corporate candidate, like Edwards, Clinton, Richardson, Vilsack,or Obama in 2008.  The people learned soon after November 7th that when they vote a mandate, they have to vote in trustworthy candidates who will carry out the mandate.  The one person who will carry out the mandate is Dennis Kucinich.

Years ago, this writer wrote an article titled, "The Unelectability Myth."  America has elected radical liberals (Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt), cripples (Franklin Roosevelt) and people with crippling diseases (Kennedy), short candidates (Madison), racists and killers (Andrew Jackson, William Henry Harrison), old people (Reagan, Eisenhower), drunks (Grant), people who misused campaign funds (Nixon), drug users (GW Bush) and people with scandalous personal lives (Harding, Clinton).  Each of these individuals had less of a chance of being elected President than Dennis J. Kucinich. Yet, unless our history books are lying, they were all elected (except for GW Bush).    Those factors didn't make those individuals unelectable.  Neither do the kind of shallow attacks that have been leveled at Kucinich decide elections.  It's time supporters of Edwards, Vilsack, Obama, Clinton, Richardson and other candidates doubting democracy stopped insulting the voters. Voters aren't as stupid as those who banter about unelectability myths.  Instead, voters focus on important  issues like peace, restoring jobs, and health care.  These are the issues that will elect the next President.

Kucinich's popularity  with voters is clear from the fact that the Bush Administration expended large sums in an attempt to defeat his re-election in 2006.  They hit Kucinich with their worst attacks, sending pictures of Osama to residents of Cleveland and trying to make them think Osama would attack if Kucinich were re-elected.  The voters responded to the Republican attacks on their favorite candidate by giving Kucinich a landslide victory in his re-election to Congress.

Why is Kucinich so loved?  Perhaps it's what he stands for.  He is for honesty in government.  He is for peace internationally and domestically, within the cities and homes of America.  He is for freedom  and the values for which our forefathers fought. He wants to bring jobs back to America,  He wants to protect the environment.  He wants to ensure that workers receive a living wage so that when they work they can afford to live.  He is for quality universal health care, as opposed to health care in name only.  He is opposed to wasting education and health care funds on missile systems that don't even work.  He is opposed to treaties that harm our environment and encourage transferring American jobs to foreign child slave laborers.  If you ask most Americans, most would agree with these positions.  If most Americans would agree with these positions, they are not out of the mainstream. This makes Kucinich a centrist.

Kucinich has another ace in hand.  This is the youth of America.   Dennis is the one candidate who supports America's youth on issues they consider important, such as lowering the voting age, funding college, saving the planet, and restoring peace.  Americans who will be turning 18 between now and the next election have pledged to vote only for Dennis Kucinich in 2008.  That's a lot of lost votes if the Democrats fail to nominate him.  Those younger than the voting age in 2008 will be demanding their relatives vote for Kucinich.    Of course, if the voting age is lowered, the millions of new voters will thank Kucinich for his support by helping ensure his election to the Presidency.  Without the vote, young Americans made a major difference in 2006, defeating proponents of a bill to ban them from the Internet and ensuring the victory of candidates, like Debra Bowen, who back them on the voting age.

Anyone who questions the electability of the most popular candidate, Dennis Kucinich, is questioning and attacking the will and capability of the voters.  The voters have proven that they can win and win they will in 2008.  See you at Kucinich's inauguration.
