The Nader Legacy: 9/11, the Patriot Act and War

Members of the Creative Youth News Team recall the Nader legacy.  Some of the members of the team worked on campaigns in 2000 and recall the call to count the votes.  One voice was missing from the call to count the votes in 2000.  That voice was Ralph Nader.  He didn't wait for a Supreme Court decision to the desert the voters.  He deserted them on election day by failing to ask once that the votes be counted.  Pat Buchanan came to the aid of the voters and acknowledged that Al Gore won Florida.

As Gore supporters called for the votes to be counted, Naderites said it didn't matter if the votes were counted because George W. Bush was the same as Al Gore.  Al Gore had had a plan for airline security that Bush later turned down that would have prevented 9/11.  Al Gore opposed the Patriot Act and the Iraq War.  Nader never stood against either one.  To those who remember the events leading into the Patriot Act and the war with Iraq, it was Ralph Nader who turned out to be the same as Bush.

Ralph Nader was another chance to give another Bush eight more years.  It's time the Green Party let Nader know that they intend to run a candidate who supports all the people and not the ego of one person.  Nader's last endorsement was of a man who supported the death penalty, had a 17% environmental rating, promoted the Patriot Act, promoted the war in Iraq and spoke in favor of war with Iran, Syria and Palestine.  It this what the Green Party stands for?  If not, they have an opportunity to prove it by telling Nader to join the Republican Party.
