LIBERALS
WONDER WHAT IS UP WITH THE RACISM AND SEXISM COMING FROM NADER
SUPPORTERS?
Special Report from the Creative Youth News Team
February 10, 2008
The Creative Youth News Team was surprised to see Nader supporters
recently echoing sexist and racist comments about women candidates and
black candidates, and the team checked to see what was up.
One Green commented, that a small fraction of Greens who think Ralph
Nader is God are trying to dictate terms to the Green Party. They
are driving Green voters away from voting. In California,
approximately three in four Green voters did not vote on Tuesday.
A couple who were interviewed said they stayed home because of the
anger coming out of the Nader campaign. Nader supporters are using
racial put-downs of minority candidates. One Nader supporter
spoke of female candidates flying on brooms. The rhetoric from
the Nader supporters is getting nasty, according to a couple of Greens
who are now looking for an alternative to the Green Party.
Chris, one of the Greens interviewed, provided a take on the Nader
situation. "Nader is a rich, white male with no
credentials. His main opponent is a middle class African-American
Congresswoman. Nader supporters want to make those, who would
vote for a African-American or a female, feel silly. If Nader
gets the Green nomination, he'll do so at a cost of losing the minority
vote and the female vote." There is a feeling that a Nader
candidacy will assist either Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton in their
November vote totals.
Further checking reveals that Ralph Nader is not a Green. He has
been reported as saying the Green Party is too ideological and that
this is why he is not an official Green candidate. He has
indicated he may use the Green Party and other small parties for a
boost if he seeks the Presidency. He has reportedly been looking
towards the Reform Party's nomination, but the Reform Party may be
going with Michael Bloomberg this year.
