Nader's name may be on the Green Party and Peace and Freedom Party
ballots, but he
isn't running for President. He didn't even form his own
exploratory campaign. The whole thing is a hoax perpetrated on
the Green and Peace and Freedom voters by a fan of his named Howie
Hawkins. The Green and Peace and Freedom Parties allow a stand-in
to create a hoax campaign on behalf of someone who is not really
running on the chance that he will someday run. Nader's
supporters are full of hoaxes. His groupies formed an exploratory
committee and then sent out deceptive articles claiming that Nader had
formed an exploratory committee. Honest voting rights activists
are hoping the truth gets out before voters vote for a non-existent
candidate.
The hoax may be aimed at putting a dent in the campaign of popular
anti-war Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney. While Nader failed to
oppose Bush or the war or the Patriot Act, Congresswoman McKinney
took on all three, voting against Bush's Florida electors in 2001 and
his Ohio electors in 2005, against the war in Iraq and its funding
and against the Patriot Act. Voting rights activists wonder if the
Democrats put Howie Hawkins up to tricking the Greeen and Peace and
Freedom voters in an attempt to limit the effectiveness of these third
parties.
This is a reason that the voting age should be lowered. Young
voters would never be taken in by such a fraud on the voting
public. The Peace and Freedom and Green Parties could prevent
this from happening again by closing the proxy candidate loophole.
