Is Modern Christianity the Enemy of Jesus?

I have heard that, in my parents' day, my church and others actually believed the teachings of Christ. Today's churches are allowing their leaders to push their own agenda. Some churches tread kids with respect but others treat them very badly. A friend of mine brought a puppy to church and they threw out my friend. She was younger than I am and they were really mean. A friend of mine wore a peace button to a church event and she was sent from the group in a really dangerous area where there has been a lot of past violence. Wasn't there something in the Bible about being nice to kids. What is happening? I keep hearing about churches in other religions being nice to kids.

Why would a minster support Bush when Bush is stealing from the poor and giving to the rich? Why would a minister support the American government when the American government has killed more than half a million Iraqis. Doesn't the Bible say: "Thou Shalt Not Kill?"

Jesus was the Prince of Peace. Why would a Prince of Peace want to have anything to do with a church that supports war or supports a war president? That is why I think that many modern Christian churches are on the opposite side as Jesus. Would it be possible for kids and people who believe in Jesus to start a church that is nice to kids and supports what Jesus taught? It would be nice to be part of a chuch that believes Jesus meant what he said and told the truth.
