Voters Shoot Down Schwarzenegger, Obama and Democratic Leadership in Special Election
Special Election Coverage from the Creative Youth News Team

Yesterday, voters overwhelmingly shot down five propositions that had been heavily pushed by Arnold Schwarzenegger, Barack Obama, the  Democratic Leadership and incarceration organizations (such as the California Teachers Association and the Prison Guard Union)..  These propositions would have given unlimited budget control to California's Governor, currently Arnold Schwarzenegger, and would have taken money away from the needy and given it to industries that are already misusing funds.

The California Democratic Leadership failed to get Democratic delegates to support proposition 1A at the California Democratic Convention (April 24 to 26, 2009).  The convention established that the Democratic leadership was completely out of touch with Democratic voters.  Resolutions committee leaders voted down support for the Geneva Conventions and voted down opposition to child torture.  Many 18 years olds are registering as "Decline to State" as a result of the perceived  ivory tower perspectives of the Democratic Party.

The California Teachers Association took a big hit in the election as it had made the election about them and their jobs.  Voters seemed to be tired of seeing ineffective elementary and secondary schools  of forced attendance and minimal learning.  Public colleges, schools attended by choice and for learning, continue to receive the short stick when it comes to funding.   An overwhelming number of youth, disenfranchised by age, would prefer that the current public elementary and secondary school systems by  abolished and replace by optional learning institutions where students select their teachers and subjects.  The election results of May 19 appear to indicate that parents are largely in agreement with their youth.   Some youth believe that the compulsory attendance law, itself, would have gone down if the voters had had a chance to vote on it on May 19.

The only Proposition that passed was a proposition theoretically designed to stop government salary increases during a deficit year.  Most voters did not notice that the Governor's appointee determines whether there is a deficit or surplus.  The vote made a statement about the lack of public support for the the California leaders.
