How many of you know others who claim to be environmentalists as they
litter the highways? How many of you know others who
claim to support energy savings while driving an SUV? How many of
you think that those who say they want to stop global warming when
they're on the campaign trail can be trusted not to continue to support
their record of protection of industries responsible for global warming?
How many of you think that a candidate who had a 37% environmental
rating from the League of Conservation Voters the year before his last
in office will be an environmental president? That is what John
Edwards supporters are trying to convince Americans. John
Edwards has the worst environmental ratings from environmental groups
of any Democrat who has ever run for President of the United
States. Edwards sends out emails about global warming wherein he
feigns caring what happens to the planet. Mr. Edwards, acts speak
louder than election conversion promises.
John Edwards supported polluters over enviioromentalists while in the
Senate. John Edwards expects Americans to believe he will do the
opposite of what he has always done when he is elected. Are you
buying it?
John Edwards worked hard to get Congress to back the Yucca Mountain
Nuclear Repository. This project endangers the 26 states through
which the nuclear wast will be traveling. It endangers the
organic farm near the dump site. It endangers the people of Los
Vegas. It endangers anyone drinking water from the Colorado
River. It endangers anyone eating food irrigated with water
from the Colorado River. The Colorado River is a major source of
irrigation and drinking water in Southern California, Nevada and
Arizona. The project would not have made it through the U.S.
Senate without the support of John Edwards.
"If you could choose a worse place to store nuclear
waste, I really challenge you to do so. It's just a matter of time
before this project fails," said Nevada Attorney General Brian
Sandoval. "Scientists and Environmental groups
are warning of the dangers. " He described the site located
northwest of Las Vegas as
"a volcano that
sits on an earthquake fault above an aquifer, next to the Nevada Test
Site, next to one of the nation's largest organic farms, next to the
state's largest dairy, adjacent to ... (America's) fastest-growing
metropolitan area (and) next to one of the busiest Air Force bases in
the country."
"The science is very clear. If we get high-temperature liquids, the
metal would corrode and that would eventually lead to leakage of
nuclear waste," said
Paul
Craig, a physicist and engineering professor at the University of
California-Davis who was appointed to the Nuclear Waste Technical
Review Board by President Clinton. He pointed out that at Yucca
Mountain, "It turns out the metals which look like they act pretty good
at temperature levels below boiling water -- those same metals act
badly with temperatures that could exist." Other
experts have stated that an earthquake or even regular water levels
could flood the container, resulting in the contamination of the
ground water and the Colorado River.
In the last election, the Sierra Club said they could not support John
Edwards for Vice President unless he changed his position. Then,
came the election conversion. Did he care about the Sierra Cllub when
he was creating his bad environmental record? Will he care about
the Sierra Club when he has all the power in the White House?
USA-PATRIOT has endangered the health, freedom and safety of
Americans and others John Edwards has taken credit for being a
co-author. Four years ago, he boldly spoke about what a great and
necessary bill is was. He hasn't been converted to oppose it,
yet. Will he be turned for campaign purposes and then turned
again in the White House?
John Edwards backed the war. Now, he wants us to believe he was
tricked or fooled by George W. Bush. Where did Edwards get his
law degree? Since he has admitted to being dumber than Bush,
should his
degree be revoked? Official statistics say over 650,000
civilians have been killed in Iraq. Most victims are
children. The depleted uranium used will cause millions of
children not yet born to die for decades or centuries into the
future. The innocent victims of war did not bother him when
he voted for war and for a long time after that. Support for the
war and occupation in Iraq aren't popular with the peace groups that
won the last election. John Edwards has been reborn. Now, he
supports getting out of Iraq somewhere in the future and bombing Iran
in the meantime. Does anyone know how this could get him the
support of peace groups? His support for bombing Iran is a gift
from him to the AIPAC pro-war alliance. He may hope that his
uncertain position will fool peace groups. Are you fooled?
NAFTA and the WTO are another interesting issue. He campaigned
against NAFTA when he ran for the U.S. Senate. Later, he found this
position was unpopular with corporate donors wishing to use foreign
child slave labor. Now, his position on the issue is
indecipherable.
Edwards knows where the campaign money is in health care.
Insurance corporate giants have more to contribute to his
campaign than sick people who need health care. John Edwards is
very eager to give the insurance companies their profits while health
care is rationed out and patents are deprived of needed
treatment. Is this the kind of person you trust for your family's
health care?
Thesauruses should make Edwards 's name a synonym for environmental
disaster, war, loss of freedom, child slave labor and dead
patients.
There is hope. Americans, wanting to avoid these disasters can do
so by lvoting for a candidate they can trust. The candidate who
has always proven that his record in office agrees with his promises is
Dennis Kucinich. Thesauruses coulld list Kucinich as being synonous
with healthy environment, world peace, jobs, propserity and quality
health care for all.
